Manages activities within the organization's risk management department meant to reduce organizational risk and legal liability. Job Duties: Identifies and evaluates potential risks associated with assigned business units, products or product lines, or programs. Seeks to mitigate liability associated with those risks by proposing and implementing risk reduction strategies, or by insuring the organization against loss. Prepares and delivers reports to management teams detailing risks facing the organization, quantifying historical and projected future losses, and describing risk reduction strategies.

Ensures compliance with safety legislation, industry practices and market requirements involving organizational products or services. Assists in the selection and negotiation of insurance policies and associated coverage. Participates in the claim review or inquiry process.

Experience and Education: Comprehensive knowledge of the field's policies, procedures, and practices. Performs complex tasks. Leads and directs the work of other employees. Has full authority for personnel decisions and may have some impact on departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change. Typically requires a bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of experience.
